Who Are We?
Hello, and welcome to SCG! We are a group of simmers of all ages and parts of the world whose goal is to experience to some extent what it must have been to fly/tank in WWII.
Our Approach to Simulation
Simulated Combat Group was formed by 6 combat flight simulation enthusiasts in Janurary 2016. Our members immerse themselves in simulated combat using the latest computer and software enhancements. No other playing style better simulates combat then playing like your very life depends on it. From the “No Man’s Land” of WWI to the limitless steppes of Mother Russia, whether in the air or on the ground, SCG leads the gaming community in “Dead is Dead” playing styles which emphasize achieving combat objectives and returning home alive. All this in contrast to the casual gamer who views cyber lives as just throw-away opportunities to game the game.
Both our Air Wing and Tanker Regiment share the same approach to playing: we use a historical chain of command and try to fight using WWII combat tactics and procedures. We fight as a dedicated and disciplined team. Members are expected to follow orders, rather than pursuing personal kills at the expense of the group. A mission is a success only if (in this order) we survive and complete the mission objective if possible…
Taking advantage of both our ground and air components, we’ve organized an effective “Combined Arms” approach to IL-2’s Tank Crew, with our Air Wing providing coordinated support to our tanks on the battlefield. These missions render a new quality to our gameplay and are a lot of fun!
SCG is well-respected within the online gaming community, scoring high marks on online combat events such as Tactical Air War. We emphasize friendliness and helping others, providing training to new pilots (and tankers), including 1-on-1 instruction to probates. When you see the phenomenal accomplishments of some of our pilots you know it is the result of a lot of work and dedication.
While we are mainly focused on the German side (see Disclaimer), we are also open to the creation of Allied units. So if you want to fly a P-47 or a Mustang, or command a Sherman tank, don’t get discouraged by what looks to be a totally German organization. Believe me, if our members want to experience it, we will find a way to make it happen.
Our main simulation platforms are the multiplayer arenas of WWII in IL-2 Great Battles & Tank Crew. There is also a small presence in Flying Circus.
In SCG there is more than just simulation. Many of us are military history enthusiasts, and here we have a community with which to explore our common hobbies. In our Discord channel members share videos, book and movie recommendations, technical information about historical equipment, and advice about our simming equipment. It’s a great place to discover like-minded friends.
